Editorial Policy on AI-Assisted Research and Authorship

The Journal of Next-Generation Research (JNGR 5.0) recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific research and scholarly communication. The journal supports the responsible and transparent use of AI technologies, provided that such use adheres to established principles of research integrity, authorship accountability, and ethical publishing.

1. Authorship and Responsibility

Artificial intelligence systems (e.g., large language models, generative AI tools, or automated analysis systems) cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances. Authorship is strictly limited to human contributors who meet standard authorship criteria.

All listed authors must take full responsibility for:

  • The integrity and accuracy of the work
  • The study design and methodological decisions
  • The interpretation of results
  • Compliance with ethical and publication standards
  • Final approval of the submitted manuscript

AI systems do not possess legal standing or accountability and therefore cannot assume authorship responsibility.

2. Permissible Use of AI

AI tools may be used in the research and writing process, including but not limited to:

  • Data analysis and computational modeling
  • Language editing and drafting assistance
  • Literature synthesis or summarization
  • Code generation or workflow automation

However, such use must not replace critical human judgment or scholarly contribution.

3. Mandatory Disclosure

Any use of AI must be clearly and transparently disclosed in the manuscript. Authors are required to include a dedicated statement (e.g., in the Methods, Acknowledgments, or a separate “AI Disclosure” section) specifying:

  • The name and version of the AI tool used
  • The purpose of its use (e.g., drafting, analysis, editing)
  • The extent of its contribution

Failure to disclose AI use may result in rejection or retraction.

4. Limitations and Prohibited Uses

The following practices are not permitted:

  • Listing AI systems as authors
  • Submitting AI-generated content without human validation
  • Using AI to fabricate, manipulate, or misrepresent data
  • Generating citations, references, or results without verification

All outputs generated with AI must be critically reviewed and validated by the authors.

5. Data Integrity and Reproducibility

Authors must ensure that:

  • AI-assisted analyses are reproducible where possible
  • Methods involving AI are sufficiently documented
  • Any limitations or biases introduced by AI tools are acknowledged

Where applicable, prompts, parameters, or workflows should be described to support transparency.

6. Peer Review and Editorial Evaluation

Submissions involving AI-assisted contributions are evaluated under the same rigorous peer-review standards as all manuscripts. Particular attention is given to:

  • Methodological rigor
  • Transparency of AI use
  • Original intellectual contribution
  • Ethical compliance

The use of AI does not confer any advantage or disadvantage in the editorial decision process.

7. Ethical Compliance

Authors must ensure that the use of AI complies with:

  • Data protection and privacy regulations
  • Intellectual property and copyright laws
  • Research ethics guidelines

Sensitive or confidential data must not be exposed to AI systems without proper authorization.

8. Policy Evolution

JNGR 5.0 is committed to continuously updating this policy in response to advances in AI technologies and evolving international publishing standards.

Summary Principle:
AI may assist research, but it cannot replace human responsibility, accountability, or scholarly contribution.
