Editorial Structure Overview

The editorial governance of JNGR 5.0 is organized into the following roles:

  • Editor-in-Chief

  • Associate Editors

  • Managing / Technical Editors

  • Review Coordinator (if applicable)

  • Peer Reviewers

Each role serves a distinct function within the editorial workflow and operates in accordance with the journal’s ethical and peer-review policies.


Editor-in-Chief

Role

The Editor-in-Chief holds the highest editorial responsibility and provides strategic and academic leadership for the journal.

Responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for:

  • Defining and overseeing the journal’s editorial policy, scope, and standards

  • Ensuring compliance with ethical publishing principles

  • Making final publication decisions based on peer-review outcomes

  • Appointing and supervising Associate Editors and editorial staff

  • Addressing ethical issues, appeals, and conflicts of interest

  • Representing the journal in academic and professional contexts

Limitations

  • Does not participate in peer review of manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists

  • Does not base editorial decisions on Article Processing Charges (APCs)


Associate Editors

Role

Associate Editors support the editorial process by managing manuscript evaluations within their areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

Associate Editors are responsible for:

  • Conducting initial editorial assessments of submitted manuscripts

  • Selecting and inviting qualified peer reviewers

  • Overseeing the double-blind peer-review process

  • Evaluating reviewer reports and making recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief

  • Ensuring timely and constructive communication during the review process

  • Upholding ethical standards and confidentiality

Limitations

  • Associate Editors do not make final acceptance decisions

  • They do not handle manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists

  • Their role is advisory and subject to final editorial approval


Managing Editor / Technical Editor

Role

The Managing or Technical Editor oversees the operational and technical aspects of publication.

Responsibilities

This role may include:

  • Managing manuscript workflow within the submission system

  • Ensuring adherence to formatting, metadata, and citation standards

  • Coordinating DOI registration and metadata accuracy

  • Preparing accepted manuscripts for publication

  • Supporting compliance with indexing and archiving requirements

Limitations

  • Does not influence editorial or peer-review decisions

  • Does not participate in manuscript acceptance or rejection


Review Coordinator (if applicable)

Role

The Review Coordinator supports the organization and efficiency of the peer-review process.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring reviewer invitations and response timelines

  • Ensuring adherence to the double-blind peer-review policy

  • Assisting editors with reviewer management

  • Maintaining reviewer records and activity logs


Peer Reviewers

Role

Peer Reviewers provide independent, expert evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, confidential, and constructive assessments

  • Evaluate manuscripts for originality, rigor, clarity, and relevance

  • Submit reviews within agreed timelines

  • Declare any conflicts of interest

  • Respect confidentiality and ethical standards

Nature of Service

Reviewer service is voluntary and independent and does not influence editorial decisions beyond scholarly assessment.
